Hello everyone! This week we continue with the second half of our computer classes this term. There will be a few changes, so please pay careful attention and be on the ready.
Here are our tasks for today:
Task 1: Send Ruby an email (10 minutes)
Ruby will be your computer class teacher from this week onwards, so be sure to send her an email using your English email account to introduce yourself and let her know a few things. The subject of your email should read: Hello from (your name). Do not send a blank email! Your teacher’s email address is: ruby.tust@yahoo.com
Task 2: Explore the website Listen-and-Write (30 minutes)
Listen-and-write is a dictation website that helps you with your listening skills. There are news reports, lectures, and songs to listen to at different levels for free. Please go to the website and do the following:
a. Sign up. Use your English name with student number as your login name, for example: Chris4231. Please do not forget your password!
b. Join the group. On the home page of the website, click the “Groups” link, and look for the group “TUST-QIBA 2012” by typing this name on the “search by group” space. Click on the name once you find it. You will be asked to write your name and the group password. Our group password is “tust”.
c. Listen and write at least two recordings. Be patient, as it might take you a bit of time to get used to the playback controls and typing pattern on the website.
Task 3: VOA News Transcribing (45 minutes)
Watch and listen to the VOA videos on your desktop. Type out everything that the speaker says onto a Microsoft Word document. Email your work (whatever you have finished) to ruby.tust@yahoo.com and klub157@yahoo.com no earlier than 10 minutes before the end of class.
